SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We know that we can best have a meaningful, enduring positive impact on our community when
we join hands together to serve others and support our neighbors in need. That's why the Y
is committed to providing opportunities for individuals to give back, and to develop the
civic partnerships and resources needed to address our most pressing community challenges.
KEY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OBJECTIVES
Available to all
Every year, thousands of people in our community are given the opportunity to learn,
grow and thrive thanks to the Y's commitment to remain available to all thanks to initiatives
such as our income-based rate scale, youth program scholarships and other forms of
financial assistance.
To finance the continued expansion of these financial assistance programs, we're committed to
raising $10 million by 2015 through our Annual Giving Campaign. We're also working to ensure
the future legacy of the Y through the work of the YMCA Foundation.
Enhance leadership development
In 2012, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee will open the Nelson Andrews Leadership Center,
which will provide leadership programs and other services to help shape our community's future
leaders. In addition, we're expanding our internal leadership programs to build a new generation
of staff and volunteer leaders with a heart for serving others, inclusion and offering hope
to our community.
Increase volunteer engagement
To provide additional opportunities for people in our community to give back, the Y has
committed to dramatically expanding its volunteer programs. In addition to expanding the
number of volunteer opportunities at the Y, the effort will also seek to connect Y members
and others to other opportunities to serve other outside our walls.
