Wellness
The YMCA movement and its commitment to health and wellness is so strong, it even created the sports of basketball and volleyball, as well as YMCA methods for swim instruction that have become the standard in teaching people how to swim. However, fitness is just one part of a larger whole, not a separate activity of the YMCA's other programs and services. The YMCA has never focused on the body alone, because for over a century the Y has recognized that a person achieves total health when his/her spirit, mind and body are balanced.Wellness services included in your membership:

3N1 Fitness Program
This is a free 90 day exercise agenda designed to help members who have exercise expereince but struggle to stay consistant due to lack of a proper plan. The program includes three meetings with one of our certified personal trainers. In these meetings, the trainer will walk you through 5-6 predetermined exercises on certain equipment. In the 3 weeks following, participants are asked to commit to at least three days a week to exercise by following the following guidelines from provided exercises cards. During these three weeks your trainer will continue to monitor your progress by making contact with you through some source of communication (phone call, email, etc. Sign up for 3N1 by visiting our Welcome Center or calling (615) 373-9622 to schedule your first appointment and receive your first 30-day exercise plan.
Microfit® Fitness Evaluation
This evaluation of your current fitness level compares you to others your age across the country. Members receive a computerized printout with the results from each component of the assessment. The fitness evaluation includes height, weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition analysis using skin fold calipers, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility. A fitness evaluation provides a great baseline of knowledge in developing your exercise goals and objectives. It is also a great motivational tool. Please wear loose fitting clothes such as a T-shirt and shorts (no spandex). Women should wear a sports bra under their shirt. You may contact the Welcome Center to set up an appointment.
Fit Kid Youth Circuit Training
The focus of this program is to provide our youth and teens with correct, safe and effective weight training principles. A staff member will lead and supervise all sessions. A monthly class meets 8 times and each session is 60 minutes in length. $35. Ages 7-13. Contact Barbara Johnson at bjohnson@ymcamidtn.org for more information.
Boot Camp
Boot Camp is an intensive, results-oriented conditioning program that runs three days a week. Each class session is four weeks in duration. The program is conducted in an indoor and outdoor environment utilizing the world's greatest gym - your body! A boot camp workout works to develop functional conditioning. Each session trains the entire body head to toe with bodyweight calisthenics, cardiovascular and strength-endurance activities. Class times are 5am, 6am, 8am and 9:00am M/W/F, or 5:30pm on T/H. Sessions start at the beginning of each month. Cost is $95 per month for M/W/F and $80 for T/H. Can't make every session? Drop-in classes are available at $10 each. Contact Doug Webb at dwebb@ymcamidtn.org to set up a free trial session.
Personal Training
Having trouble getting started? Are fitness machines confusing, intimidating? When should I use weights versus machines? Do I need to do both cardio exercise and lift weights? How many repetitions should I do?
All of these questions and more can be addressed by YMCA certified personal trainers. They will assess your fitness condition including cardio, strength, endurance, and flexibility. In so doing, they will develop a customized, safe, and effective personal fitness process aligned with your specific fitness goals! Additionally, they will facilitate and monitor every step of your fitness process so that continuous improvements and positive results are achieved.
The probability of reaching your fitness goals will be increased dramatically when a certified personal trainer is used to get started. They can also be used to review your fitness process on a periodic basis when appropriate.
Trainers must be employed by the YMCA. Members may not provide their own trainers. Contact Doug Webb at dwebb@ymcamidtn.org for more information. There are no refunds on personal training sessions. All sessions must be used within six months of purchase.
