Zack Tolbert
Aquatics Director

I started working with the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta in 1988, where I performed duties in aquatics, the welcome desk and weight room. I started various programs both in aquatics and for teens. I also helped to create an association-wide competitive swimming program as the next step for age-group swimmers who were developmentally ready to graduate from swim lessons. The YMCA competitive swimming program was fortunate to be invited to the 1996 Olympic Pool for a meet to test systems, meet Olympic officials, and be on the deck during a few Olympic swimming events.

In 1996, I moved to the YMCA of the Triangle in Raleigh, N.C., to manage the aquatics program for the Cary Family YMCA and help lead association-wide aquatics initiatives. The Lord really blessed me while in the Raleigh area, both professionally and personally. It was at the Cary Family YMCA where I met my bride, Anissa, who was baptized into the family of believers in our Lord, Christ Jesus, in the YMCA pool.

Raleigh is also the city where our two most precious gifts - 4-year-old daughter Emma and 2-year-old son Cooper - were born. Today, I feel extremely blessed to be here with the YMCA of Middle Tennessee - the absolute best of the best in the YMCA! I celebrated my first anniversary here this past May, and this fall will mark my 19th year of full-time ministry with the YMCA. Meanwhile, my work at the YMCA continues to evolve. In addition to my responsibilities in Middle Tennessee, I am now in my fourth year of leading aquatics with the YMCA's Blue Ridge Leaders' School, and recently had the opportunity to make two presentations at the national YMCA Expo in Dallas.
