Personal Fitness
In this 12 week program, you will work with a wellness coach who cares about motivating you to achieve your goals at your own pace. Personal Fitness is a flexible program designed for beginners who need support to become more physically active. Staff is trained to design a personalized exercise program for you that is both fun and challenging. Appointments can be arranged by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631.
Wellness Consultation
This is a one hour appointment with a wellness professional. During this session YMCA staff will help you develop a customized action plan that meets your wellness goals with your current activity level, health status and interests in mind. You will also learn how to use the exercise equipment in the Wellness Center. Follow-up appointments are available to assess progress. Please wear comfortable clothing such as shorts/pants, t-shirt and athletic shoes. Appointments can be arranged by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631.
Fitness Evaluation
If you have been physically active for six months or longer, you may wish to test your current fitness level. You will meet with a Fitness Specialist to test the following areas:
· Resting Heart Rate
· Blood Pressure
· Body Composition (Body-fat)
· Cardiovascular Endurance
· Muscular Strength and Endurance
· Flexibility
Please wear shorts, t-shirt and athletic shoes. Appointments can be arranged by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631.
Body Composition (Body Fat) Assessment
In lieu of a complete fitness evaluation, you may choose to only have your body fat testing. Please wear shorts and t-shirt. Please check with the member service desk for assessment times or appointments can be arranged by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631.
Sports Injury Assessment
Through our alliance with St. Thomas Medical Services and Baptist Hospital an athletic trainer can evaluate injuries such as:
· Knee problems when running?
· Low back pain after gardening?
· Shoulder pain when throwing a ball?
· Hip pain after carrying a grandchild?
· Wrist problems when playing basketball or racquetball?
Appointments can be set at the member services desk or by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631. Walk-ins are often accomodated.
Blood Pressure Screening
Free blood pressure screenings with our Stay well Nurse are available by appointment and walk-in. Please check with the member service desk for screenings in the lobby and appointment times by calling the Downtown YMCA at (615) 254-0631.
Personal Training
Personal training can make a difference in the success of your program. Our trainers can work with you regularly or on a consulting basis to help design a workout that is uniquely yours. Trainers encourage you to exercise and reach your goals. Trainers are YMCA, CPR, certified and carry national personal training certification. Trainers must be employed by the YMCA. Members may not provide their own trainers.
