Hispanic Achievers
The YMCA Hispanic Achievers Program (YHAP) at the Harding Place Family YMCA was created to improve the lives of Middle Tennessee’s Hispanic families. Whether it’s celebrating Hispanics’ wonderful cultural heritage, helping parents learn English or equipping their children with the academic tools they’ll need to graduate high school and attend college, Hispanic Achievers is about helping this important and growing community achieve its fullest potential in spirit, mind and body.
The YMCA Hispanic Achievers Clubs focus on character and leadership development hosted
at area middle and high schools. Students are introduced to group games and topics promoting growth and advancement both academically and personally. The YHAP team provides step by step instruction on college preparation, including financial planning, choosing a career, identifying higher education institutions for application. A key component of Hispanic Achievers is to introduce professionals and college students for the purpose of developing mentorship assets for students.
Pre-Collegiate Planning meetings are offered by our team for families and students interested in additional assistance for college preparation. These meetings include help applying for financial aid, scholarships and college applications.
English classes for adults and high school age students are provided at the Harding Place Family YMCA. Thanks to a generous grant through
