WELLNESS AT THE YMCA OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The YMCA movement and its commitment to health and wellness is so strong, it even created the sports of basketball and volleyball, as well as YMCA methods for swim instruction that have become the standard in teaching people how to swim. However, fitness is just one part of a larger whole, not a separate activity of the YMCA's other programs and services. The YMCA has never focused on the body alone, because for over a century the YMCA has recognized that a person achieves total health when their spirit, mind and body are balanced.

We offer the following:

· Aerobics (see list of classes offered below and Group Fitness Schedule)
· Personal Training
· Body Fat Analysis
· Equipment Orientations
· Fitness Evaluations
· Injury Assessment
· Personal Fitness

PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal training can make a difference in the success of your program. Our trainers can work with you regularly or on a consulting basis to help design a workout that is uniquely yours. Trainers encourage you to exercise and reach your goals. Note: Members may not provide their own trainers, they must be employed by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee.

· GROUP TRAINING: A fun and efficient way to get in shape while sharing the cost of a personal trainer. One trainer is assigned to four participants giving you the "personal touch" as well as the added motivation and support from others in your group. Must have four participants to begin a group.
· PARTNERS IN TRAINING: Get quality workouts from a personal trainer at more than half the price. Share a trainer with a partner and still enjoy the benefit of that "personal touch."

BODY FAT ANALYSIS
Body fat testing is done using Lange Skin-fold Calipers where we test seven sites; chest abdomen, hip, under arm, back, triceps and thigh. Please wear loose fitting clothes such as a T-shirt and shorts (no spandex). Women should wear a sports bra under their shirt. Appointments are available at the member service desk.

EQUIPMENT ORIENTATIONS
Based upon your individual goals, a certified trainer will acclimate you to different cardiovascular and strength training machines. The trainer will also demonstrate proper form, body alignment, pace and suggested repetitions. Two to three weeks later an additional appointment should be made to check your form and to answer any questions you might have about your program. Both appointments compliment each other to ensure you are satisfied with the program and you are having positive progress.

FITNESS EVALUATION
An evaluation of your current fitness level which compares you to others your age across the country. Members receive a computerized printout with the results from each component of the assessment. The fitness evaluation includes height, weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition analysis using skin fold calipers, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility. A fitness evaluation provides a great baseline of knowledge in developing your exercise goals and objectives. It is also a great motivational tool. Please wear loose fitting clothes such as a T-shirt and shorts (no spandex). Women should wear a sports bra under their shirt. Appointments are available at the Member Service desk.

PERSONAL FITNESS
You will meet one-on-one with a Lifestyle Coordinator who will design an individual program based on your physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. This session consists of an introduction to our wellness programs, personal wellness checkup and goal setting. This interview guides you toward the services and programs that will be best for you.

You have the option of participating in a twelve-week process with one-on-one attention to educate and motivate you to reach your fitness goals. You will be assigned a lifestyle coach who will stay with you throughout the 12-week period. You will have four to five sessions with your coach and weekly personal contact to maintain accountability.
