Martial Arts
Tae-Kwon-Do originated in Korea and actually translated as "The Art of the Foot and Hand." It is based on techniques that have been developed over thousands of years and has grown to be the world's largest martial art. It is unique because the class begins by focusing on affirming the efforts of the student. Kicking, blocking, striking, and punching are tools of this martial art but self-discipline, self-confidence, respect for others and oneself are the positive attributes that constitute the fabric of the sport. New participants start a class at the beginning of each month. They start slowly and progress at their own pace. This is a great way to improve physical abilities as well as develop greater self-discipline.
Classes are taught by Shayne Baarda, a nationally certified instructor.
Classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays,
with two age levels available:
- Lil’ Dragons for ages 5-7
- Young Execs for ages 8 and up
