5 Apps We Love for Tracking Progress

Healthy habits are like Rome—they aren't built in a day. It takes time and commitment to construct a healthier life, and it’s wise to look at all the tools available to help.

A smart phone app can offer abundant support when it comes to developing discipline and sticking to a routine. Functions like daily reminders, progress measurement, inspirational tips, and online community give us tools to succeed. We might as well use technology to our advantage, right?

So whether you want to control your blood pressure, stress less, or meal plan more, try tracking your goals digitally. Here are some of my favorite smartphone apps to help you monitor your progress.

1. Any.do: To-Do List & Calendar

With many options to sync your to-do's with all your devices and even other apps, you can keep your healthy habits top of mind with Any.do! (It's almost like having a personal assistant for your healthy lifestyle.)

2. Productive: Habit Tracker

This 5-star app acts as a tool to help you build a routine of life-changing habits. Streaks of success can help you stay motivated, and weekly summaries offer insight on your healthy living journey. Personalize your goals and analyze your progress, all for free!

3. MyFitnessPal

For those with more food-focused goals this year, there's no easier app than MyFitnessPal to help you track what you eat. Not only is it free, but you can also log your food and drink with a simple scan of a barcode, as well as review your daily and weekly progress. (Really serious about healthier eating habits? Friend me on MyFitnessPal at "linZjoeRD".)

4. Streaks for Small Starts

This free app is from Tennessee! Simply pick a few easy, healthy actions you can commit to doing every day and build a "success streak" to create a habit. You can choose from behaviors like skipping late night snacking to substituting screen time, and challenge your friends, too.

5. DIY in your smartphone

Okay, number five isn't technically one app, but we know some of you prefer the do-it-yourself approach. So, you don't have to download an app to track your progress with a goal. Use the simple "Notes," "Reminders," and "Calendar" features in your phone to help you remember to complete and track tasks. It might take a tad more creativity to set up your system, but oftentimes, the more effort you put in, the more you'll benefit.
