It has happened. Parking lots are packed. Calendars are full. Decorations hang everywhere. Stress also may have entered into the picture at a whole new level. If so, PRESS PAUSE.
I want to invite you into something more. Don’t miss this: Love is being born…again.
Love is funny the way it breaks through when you are not even looking. Love takes delight in surprising you!
Love is in the voice of a child full of wonder and hope. Love is in the hands of that person who has lived 90 years and still has something to say. Love is in the last of autumn’s leaves hanging on just in case you step outside and need to be inspired. Love is in the question that lingers, like a prayer that trusts an answer is on its way.
Look for Love around you
I met Love this month at the Downtown YMCA. Her name is Annie. She comes two or three days a week for stretching yoga. She rides the bus here and stays for a few hours. This is part of her life; it's her community. Church, bible study, and the YMCA…her life rhythms of spirit, mind and body. Annie is 91. Of all the places she could be spending her days, she chooses to spend them with us.
Listen! Watch! Stay alert! Love is being born…again! Don’t miss it. Maybe, just maybe…love is being born again in YOU.
"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love" (1 John 4:7-8).
Let's pray together
God, please fill the empty places in our souls with your love. Let our spirits overflow with you. And may the special places called the YMCA be the sacred spaces where all can experience your Love. We need you. Come quickly, Lord, and help us. Amen.
