The Downtown YMCA's Welcome Center is your one-stop shop for scanning into the Y, checking in guests, signing up for programs and services, and getting answers to any questions you may have during your visit.

In addition to our front scan desk, the Welcome Center includes a Member Transaction Station for program and registering first-time guests. We also have three member service desks where members can receive special one-on-one assistance from a Y staff member.

There are two entrances to our facility: the main entry at the corner of YMCA Way and Church Street and a lower entrance off the 10th Ave. back parking lot.

Wellness Center

Our two-tiered, 30,000-square-foot Wellness Center is a comprehensive workout facility for all fitness levels, ages and areas of interest. Bathed in natural light, the location offers a welcoming atmosphere for exercisers of all fitness, age and ability levels.

Wellness staff members are always on hand to help answer any questions you may have during your time on the wellness floor. They can also connect you with both free and fee-based programs and services to help you set and achieve your health and fitness goals.

Locker Rooms

We have four locker rooms: one women's, one men's and two family locker areas. Women's and men's locker rooms have steam rooms, saunas (open to members aged 14 years and up) and inviting lounge areas with televisions. Women's facilities have 17 showers; men's have 20.

Both family locker rooms are private, and children up to age 13 may utilize these facilities with parents of the opposite gender.

Those using the locker room facilities are expected to follow the stated code of conduct as outlined in the locker room rules.

Sauna & Steam Rooms

Each men's and women's locker room has a sauna and steam room for members 14 years of age and up.

Indoor Pool

Our 25 meter indoor pool features six lanes for lap swimming and is kept at 82 degrees. Here we offer swim lessons, Master's Swim Team, group exercise classes and Learn to Swim. The pool is open daily, year-round.

Outdoor Pool

The outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. Located on the rooftop, this pool is 50 feet x 20 feet and 4 feet deep at all points.

Gymnasium

Our open court gym provides a competitive environment for basketball games and other sports. We host occasional tournaments in this facility. All who use the gym are expected to follow the member code of conduct and posted gym rules.

Indoor Track

The indoor track, located above the gym, is accessible off the Wellness Center mezzanine and offers views of the main Wellness Center floor. Twelve laps equal a mile. Children ages 10-13 may use the track with a parent or guardian; anyone ages 14 and up may enjoy full access. Look for posted track rules and guidelines along the track wall to the left of the stairwell.

Outdoor Track

Located on our rooftop, the outdoor track provides space for walking or running with views of West End Avenue. Children ages 10 - 13 may use the track with a parent or guardian; anyone ages 14 and up may enjoy full access. All pertinent track use details are posted on site.

Racquetball Courts

With eight racquetball courts at our facility, we offer the most courts of any Y facility in Middle Tennessee or southern Kentucky. Members must reserve courts 24 hours in advance of play time. Mornings and lunch hours are quite busy for these courts, and we do host occasional tournaments here, as well. The YMCA code of conduct applies for these courts, and other pertinent information is posted on-site.

Chapel

Located on the second level of our facility, the chapel is open for use to all members and staff on a walk-in basis for prayer, reflection and study. The space is occasionally used by special groups, as well.

Parking

Because of our location, there is a charge for parking at three of the Downtown Y's lots. Free parking is available on 10th Avenue.
Supervised Children's Activity Areas

Y-Play

For babies, the area is equipped with consumer safety compliant cribs, baby swings and jumpers, etc. For toddlers and young children, there are discovery, art and Lego tables, proper height furniture, a dress-up station, storage cubbies and a private potty area.
