Mens/Ladies League
& Instructional Programming

City Leagues
We participate in all of the leagues offered in the city and have over 300 of our tennis members playing in the spring, summer, and fall. The Ladies play USTA Leagues (6 Teams), MTTL (6 Teams) and NALTA (13 Teams). The Men play MTTL (2 Teams) and USTA (1 Team). Our tennis members captain the teams.

YMCA Intraclub "Y Leagues"
One of our most popular tennis programs is our YMCA league program developed and administered by Jim Monk, our YMCA league director.
Jim has organized year round league play opportunities for our tennis players at the Y. We offer singles, doubles, and mixed doubles and soon to come team formats so that players new to the Y or that want additional match play opportunities have a fun vehicle to accommodate them. We have over 150 players each session participating in our YMCA leagues.

Currently, you must be a YMCA member or Tennis Member to participate in the YMCA leagues. Tennis Members pay less to participate and have entry priority. We offer five session per year and our schedule is listed below. Call Jim Monk at 373-2900 x72162 for more information.

Ladies NALTA
We have 11 NALTA Teams from B2 to AA levels (Thursday mornings), two singles teams (Tuesday mornings) and two Working Women's teams (Sunday afternoons). The format is four doubles matches. NALTA leagues run for about six weeks in the spring and fall.

Ladies USTA
We have six teams that play on Monday's or Wednesday, and Working Women and Senior divisions on Saturdays and Sundays. The format includes both singles and doubles and the season is for about six weeks each spring and fall.

Ladies MTTL
We have six teams that play on Thursday mornings in a league season that runs about six weeks in the summer. Format is three doubles lines. Teams are designated by NTRP level.

** Each team member must be a tennis member to participate on one of our teams.

Men’s Spring USTA Leagues
Singles and doubles competition in a team format, divided by NTRP ability level. Leagues run locally from five to eight weeks, with winning teams going on to represent Nashville in state, sectional, and national competition.
Cost of $10 - $15 per person registration fee.

Mens MTTL & MTITL
We have three teams (3.5 - 5.5) that begin their seasons in April and conclude each September. The MTITL team (3.5 -4.0) plays on Tuesday nights and the two MTTL teams (4.0) and (4.5 - 5.5) play on Thursday evenings. The format is 4 singles and 4 doubles matches. Each of our teams is captained by a tennis member.

** Each team member must be a tennis member to participate on one of our teams.

Mens/Ladies Group & Private Lessons
We have nine USPTA or USPTR certified teaching professionals who offer year round scheduled clinics open to all as well as clinics specific to individual teams. See our teaching professional's biographies.

Cardio Tennis, “Heart Pumping Fitness!”
This nationally recognized, high intensity, one hour group tennis program focuses on using fast paced tennis drills to improve one’s overall cardio health. Tennis’ answer to “Spinning,” the hour consists of a 10 minute warm up, a 40 minute “workout” phase, and a 10 minute cool down all directed by our staff professionals. Because the main focus is to improve one’s condition, players of all levels can participate at the same time. It is a great way to meet people and have fun while working out! Cost is $15 tennis member, $20 Y member.

Complimentary & Seasonal Programming

Saturday Morning Men's and Women's Drills
Each Saturday morning (9am men, 10am women), weather permitting, during the outdoor season we offer complimentary group drills that are taught by one of our teaching professional staff. The clinic's focus on fast paced drills and point play drilling. The clinics last for one hour each for both men and women. There is no charge for tennis members and all levels are welcome.

Racquet Round Up (Tennis Anyone?)
Beginning the first Monday in June from 6-8pm. This is complimentary, weather permitting match play program during the outdoor season for our tennis members. Come and go as you please during the three hours. A “volunteer captain” will organize, by ability level, co-ed match play where you play eight games no-ad scoring per round. This is a regular scheduled time for match play throughout spring and summer to enjoy seeing both new and familiar faces.

Complimentary Indoor Court Time
Tennis members are not charged a fee for indoor court time.

MatchMates
Our Match Mates is a list of tennis members, their ability levels, and contact information that is used by players looking for match play but not sure who to call. We try to keep it updated on a quarterly basis. Please drop by the tennis desk to add you name to the list, or phone 373-5120.

Mixers & Socials

Throughout the year we host evening and/or morning round robin mixers to give our new members a chance to meet our regular tennis players. The goal is to get members together who don’t get a chance to play with one another. They are geared especially for our new members. We offer doubles and mixed doubles King/Queen of the court match play with light refreshments. This year we have five scheduled mixers for men, women and mixed.

2nd Annual “Wimbledon Woodie” Round Robin Tournament
June 28, 2008
Although it won’t last a fortnight, it just might feel like it! To capture the spirit of Wimbledon of old, come dressed in your best tennis whites and dust off the old wooden racquet (not mandatory) to serve up white tennis balls. We will divide the players each round into mixed pairings, using a round robin rotation. Last year was a blast with some outstanding competition. Strawberries and Cream will be served and we will play until we can’t play anymore and then eat a hearty catered lunch. The cost is $20 per person. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s “We Build People” campaign.

Fall Finish NALTA Round RobinSeptember 11, 2008
This is a social, mixer and team building opportunity for all current NALTA team players. And this is a good opportunity for players seeking to be on a NALTA team to come out and play, meet new players, and to see if there are spots available on existing teams. This event is held on Thursday, the week before NALTA season begins. FREE to members.

Ladies Holiday SocialDecember 7, 2008
This is a great event that we look forward to each December. One reason is that the tennis is fun and competitive. The other reason is that each player brings a gift that is given to a local ministry that distributes them to families struggling financially. FREE to members.

2008 USTA Sanctioned Tournaments

We have five USTA Junior Tournaments at the facility, with players able to become state, sectionally, and nationally ranked. Results are entered into the USTA data bank and rankings are updated weekly. These events are over a weekend. We also have adult tournaments throughout the year. Registration for all of these tournaments is at www.usta.com.
