Active Older Adults

Seniors Group Training
Both on land and in the water, seniors may benefit from the Maury County Family YMCA's group exercise classes. Special classes for seniors include:

AOA Water Walk
Mon 8:45am-9:15am
This 30 minute walking class is for anyone but especially for active older adults. Participants are encouraged to pace themselves. This class is a cardiovascular workout and is equal to a 3-mile walk on the track.

Water Aerobics
Mon/Wed 9:15am-10:15am
Fri 9:00am-10:00am
Tues/Thurs 6:30pm-7:30pm

This class is a 60-minute class which provides mid to high cardiovascular training along with muscular endurance. The intensity is equal to land aerobics but with little impact on the joints. Great for any fitness level.

TWWE I (Transitional Warm Water Exercise I)
Tues/Thurs 6:00pm-6:45pm
This class uses the Arthritis Foundation guidelines and is designed to decrease pain and stiffness and increase joint flexibility. This class is ideal for anyone who may be suffering from arthritis, fibromyalgia, surgical post-rehabilitation, any chronic fatigue illness. There is no cardiovascular segment. The instructors are certified through the Arthritis Foundation. Free to Facility Members! $30 monthly pool pass for TWWE 1 classes for Program Memebers. *Yearly Program Membership Fee $15

TWWE II (Transitional Warm Water Exercise II)
Mon/Wed/Fri 8:30am-9:30am
Tues/Thurs 5:15pm-6:00pm

The class is designed for anyone who has advanced past the TWWE I class. The class is slightly more intense than TWWE I and has a low intensity cardiovascular component. This transitional class is for graduates of TWWE I who are not ready to mainstream back into a traditional class. Free to Facility Members!

Low Impact
Thur 8:00am
A traditional aerobic class kept at a pace suitable for any level of exerciser.

Flexible Stretching
Mon, Wed, Fri 8:00am
A 30 or 45-minute class which incorporates flexibility exercises and stretching techniques with relaxation segment at the end of the class.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body with intentions of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. Massage has been proven to reduce stress, release muscular tension, increase circulation, decrease recovery time after injury or physical activity, and fulfill the need for the human touch. Massage techniques available include Swedish, neuromuscular therapy, sports, prenatal, infant, and chair. Please call 540-8320 ext. 215 in advance to make your appointment.

Silver Stars

Silver Stars is open to singers, musicians and dancers. Solos, duos and groups welcome! First-round auditions will take place at Cadillac Ranch in downtown Nashville on Saturday, August 23, 2008. For further details, visit www.hssilverstars.com.
