Wellness

The YMCA movement and its commitment to health and wellness is so strong, it even created the sports of basketball and volleyball, as well as YMCA methods for swim instruction that have become the standard in teaching people how to swim. However, fitness is just one part of a larger whole, not a separate activity of the YMCA's other programs and services. The YMCA has never focused on the body alone, because for over a century the Y has recognized that a person achieves total health when his/her spirit, mind and body are balanced.

Aerobic & Conditioning Classes
Try one of our many fitness classes included in your membership. You do not need to register ahead of time for any of our aerobic and conditioning classes.

Personal Training
Personal training can make a difference in the success of your program. Our trainers can work with you regularly or on a consulting basis to help design a workout that is uniquely yours. Trainers encourage you to exercise and reach your goals. Trainers must be employed by the YMCA. Members may not provide their own trainers.

Youth Strength Training (Ages 10-12)
This is a paid program that meets four times with a certified trainer. It enables the youth to work out on the wellness floor without being an arms length from their parent. Private classes are $50 and Group Classes are $30.

Youth Fitness Training Orientation (Ages 13-14)
For youth who would like to use the wellness center, two orientations with our staff are required and include instruction on the cardiovascular and weight machines. FREE to members. Make an appointment at the member service desk. Youth must be 15 to use free weight area.

Injury Assessments
Have aches and pains got you down or interfered with your workouts? Come to one of our injury assessment sessions. Physical therapists from local health care centers are here to help you heal those lingering injuries. Dates and times will be posted throughout the year. FREE to members.

Strength Training Workshops
Have you been wondering about strength training but were afraid to ask? Now is your chance! Let a certified trainer show you the correct way to increase muscular strength and endurance and provide you with basic fitness information. A stronger body will help make all those everyday tasks a little easier. Workshops offered with seniors and women specifically in mind. Days and times will be announced. FREE to facility members.

Equipment Orientation
Let us help you get started on a strength-training program. It is recommended that all new members go through a wellness center orientation, which includes instruction on the cardiovascular equipment, Nautilus and Cybex machines, and free weights if desired. Our staff will be happy to assist in proper mechanics, safety and supervision. Beginners are urged to go through three orientations to get their new exercise program off to a great start. Our trainers will check on the member's progress with phone calls as often as members like. Orientations are FREE to members. Make your appointment now at the member service desk.

Personal Fitness
This 12+ week process helps you to make regular exercise a part of your healthy lifestyle. During the 12 weeks, you will have individual sessions with your coach and receive feedback and motivation to help you achieve your goals. Personal Fitness coaches design a personalized exercise program to fit your needs and implement this program in incremental stages to allow you time to develop skill in each area of exercise (cardiovascular exercise, strength training and flexibility).
This is FREE to facility members. You must be a member to participate.
