The YMCA movement and its commitment to health and wellness is so strong, it even created the sports of basketball and volleyball and YMCA methods for swim instruction became the standard in teaching people how to swim. However, fitness is just one part of a larger whole, not a separate activity of the YMCA's other programs and services. The YMCA has never focused on the body alone, because for over a century the Y has recognized that a person achieves total health when his/her spirit, mind and body are balanced.

Microfit®
Before you begin any type of workout program you should first go through Microfit®. You will receive the ultimate baseline as to figuring out where you should start. We are currently the only center in Murfreesboro that can offer this type of testing and it's free with your membership. You will receive the following three tests:
1. Wellness Profile
Computer questionnaire that will notify you about an area in your life that needs improvement. These area include Exercise, Stress, Tobacco, Alcohol, Safety, Nutrition.

2. Fitness Profile
This will give you a detailed description of your current level of fitness and let you know of ways that you can improve it. Areas that we test are Weight, Body Fat %, VO2 Max, Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Strength, Flexibility.

3. DietMaster Plan
You will be able to receive a weekly meal plan based off of your current level of exercise and if your goal is to gain our lose weight.

Personal Training
Personal Training can make a difference in the success of your program. This will provided you with the ultimate guide to accountability, guidance, discipline, and motivation. You will receive the latest information and the best exercises to maximize your workouts. You will receive a step by step personally developed program for your exact needs. Trainers ACSM, or NSCA certified, two of the most stringent and prestigious certifications in the industry. Trainers must be employed by the YMCA. Members may not provide their own trainers.

First Steps
Are you ready to take your first step towards a healthier lifestyle? First Step is designed for the beginner exerciser. You will learn the fundamentals of fitness training and will be guided one-on-one by a YMCA certified Wellness Coach. In just 3 weeks, you will have a customized workout plan based on your needs so you can obtain your goals.
