Experienced tennis players and beginners alike will find something for them at the Maryland Farms YMCA Tennis Center. From our youth tennis lessons and camps to our leagues and tournaments, there's an offering for every player to learn, develop and sharpen their skills, no matter the level. Our Junior Development Program is the largest youth tennis program of its kind in Tennessee, and is offered five times a year for 10-weeks. This competitive program is designed for kids ages 5-18 of all skill sets and experience levels. Your child will be part of team and improve his or her tennis skills through conditioning classes, drills, seminars and competitive play.

During the school year, each team will practice 2-3 times throughout the week, with some teams practicing on Saturdays. The more advanced teams will also play in different competitions. There are four after-school sessions each year.
There is also a single Junior Development Program session during the summer. For the more advanced teams, practices will be four days a week, while the less advanced teams maintain a light practice schedule.
Skill Levels: State-ranked junior and high school players.
Areas of focus: Advanced drills, mental toughness training, self-discipline.
Competitions: Challenge matches, local USTA tournaments and travel tournaments.
Skill Levels: Intermediate-level, non-ranked players.
Areas of focus: Hand-on instruction on mechanics, rallying and cooperative drills, pro-fed drills.
Competitions: Challenge matches, interclub matches around Nashville and USTA non-ranked junior tournaments.
Skill Levels: Beginners with some tennis experience, but no match play.
Areas of focus: Proper stroke technique, fun games to encourage enjoyment, maximum enjoyment.
Competitions: No competitive play.
Skill Levels: Total beginners ages 5-6.
Areas of focus: Fun activities to improve balance, hand-eye coordination and tennis skills.
If you’re looking for more individual tennis instruction for you or your child, then our tennis lessons or clinics might be for you. Tennis lessons are private individual sessions with a tennis professional. These one-on-one lessons will give you or your child individual attention and specific instruction.
Lesson with a Tennis Director/Head Pro
- 1 hour: $70 for members/$88 for non-members
- 45 minutes: $60/$75
- 30 minutes: $45/$55
- 15 minutes: $30/$38
Lesson with a Staff Pro
- 1 hour: $60 for members/$75 for non-members
- 45 minutes: $55/$69
- 30 minutes: $40/$50
- 15 minutes: $25/$31
Private clinics are small-group tennis classes. An alternative to private lessons, our clinics give you and your child the opportunity to learn tips and tricks from other players as well as our tennis pros.

- 3 people for 90 minutes: $40/$50
- 2 people for 90 minutes: $45/$56
- 4 people for 1 hour: $25/$31
- 3 people for 1 hour: $28/$35
Tennis Leagues & Tournaments
Our tennis center hosts dozens of tournaments and leagues each year for tennis players of all ages and skill levels. You and your child will enjoy the competitive atmosphere and our community of fellow tennis players at Maryland Farms.
YMCA “Adult Intra Y” Leagues
If you’re a Y member who loves to play tennis, then our Y leagues are a great place to start. We offer five leagues from January to November featuring singles, rotating-partner doubles and same-partner doubles for players who are new to the Y or who want additional match play opportunities.

We participate in all of the Nashville team leagues from spring to fall. More than 300 of our tennis members play in these leagues in the spring, summer and fall. USTA Sanctioned Junior Tournaments
An important part of our tennis program is our junior sanctioned tournament schedule, which we offer to participants in our junior tennis program and other junior tennis players throughout the South. We conduct five USTA sanctioned junior tournaments annually. More than 750 players compete in these tournaments at our facility each year.
