Engagement at the Y

Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are employee-led networks that seek to provide support, networking, and development opportunities for YMCA professionals from a variety of cultures and experiences. These groups are open to all YMCA employees and volunteers. 

Trailblazers Professional Coaching Program

Launched in 2022, the program provides staff with nine months of structured professional coaching. This program connects staff interested in furthering their Y career with a more experienced staff member interested in using their knowledge and skills to provide professional coaching.

Multicultural Leadership Development

YMCA of Middle Tennessee staff can participate in the YMCA of the USA’s Multicultural Leadership Development initiative. It aims to identify, inspire, and develop YMCA leaders from across the full spectrum of our workforce to strengthen our Y leadership brand across the network, develop leadership pathways, support professional growth, and ensure our leaders reflect the evolving needs, strengths,
and experiences of the communities we serve.

Engagement Champion

A professional development opportunity for staff interested in helping to make the Y a more welcoming place where everyone feels valued and connected to our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. This opportunity allows participants to enhance their skills and support organizational efforts by serving as Champions within their centers or programs. Participants also gain access to expanded networking, professional development, and leadership development opportunities. 

Volunteer Committee

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee’s Board includes a Volunteer Committee commissioned to monitor and recommend best practices to inspire a more welcoming organization ‘For All’.
