Seeking Health, Staying In Shape

We caught Randy in between sets at the leg press. Clearly he’s been working on his arms, too!

How do you stay in shape, Randy?

Randy: I’ve been up and down, honestly. Before I started coming here, I noticed my blood pressure was rising. That was a bit of motivation [laughs].

No kidding! Does that run in your family?

Randy: My brother’s on high blood pressure medication, my sister’s on it, my mom’s on it. I was like, I don’t want to do medication if I can help it.

We hear you. How else do you keep it under control?

Randy: One weird thing I eat is I mix tuna fish with oatmeal. It always gets my blood pressure back down.

Really? Interesting...

Randy: My 7-year-old daughter, she just kind of follows behind me. She’ll eat it if I eat it.

Like father, like daughter. Does she come here with you?

Randy: Oh yeah, to Y-Play. I have to drag her out of here.

What would you say to people who might feel too intimidated to come work out at the Y?

Randy: You don’t know until you try. The people here, the staff, they’re good staff.

Thanks, buddy! We think you’re good, too. Let’s share some tuna and oatmeal sometime.
