DEMOCRACY MUST BE LEARNED BY EACH GENERATION
As one of the nation’s oldest and largest program providers of its kind, The YMCA Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) provides hundreds of thousands of young people with the skills, training, and relationships needed to become life-long engaged citizens and community members.
The YMCA Center for Civic Engagement’s flagship conferences, Youth in Government and Model United Nations, offer hands-on learning opportunities in our government processes as students take on roles as Senators, Lawyers, United Nations representatives, various leadership positions, and more. At CCE conferences, students make friends from a variety of backgrounds, engage in thoughtful debate, practice public speaking, and find their voice.
Each year, CCE programs reach almost 7,000 middle and high school students across the state. The Center for Civic Engagement is proud to help close the youth civic engagement gap and strengthen the civic health of our communities through providing hands-on learning opportunities in our government processes.
Through YIG and MUN programs, students learn to serve their schools, communities, and nation through model government, civic engagement, character development, and servant leadership. CCE programs empower students to know that they can make a difference, big or small, on the world around them.
